From thrilling adventures to tranquil overnight stays, Cwmcarn Forest is close enough to retreat to yet feels like a million miles away. Gear up or wind down, the choice is yours; choose from adrenaline fuelled mountain bike trails and water activities or enjoy a stroll around one of the many walking trails and grab a cuppa at the takeaway service in Raven’s Café


Due to the announcement from Welsh Government that a circuit break lockdown will commence at 6pm on Friday 23rd October, facilities at Cwmcarn Forest will close at that time and will re-open on Monday 9th November.

To clarify, the following facilities will be closed:
Visitor Centre

Car parks will remain open to facilitate those local enough to exercise, the play areas will also remain open.

We advise people not to travel any distance to use any of the walking or cycling trails on site.

We’ll see you again very soon. In the meantime stay safe and stay home.

Current opening information ONLY until 6pm on Friday 23rd October:

Please note that due to a local lockdown in place (from 8th September), Cwmcarn Forest should only be visited by residents of Caerphilly County Borough. A face mask must be worn by everyone over the age of 11 when in the visitor centre.

We are now open 7 days a week!

Monday – Thursday, Saturday & Sunday 9am – 5pm and 9am – 4.30pm Friday, for the following facilities:

  • Reception & Gift Shop
  • Limited toilet facilities

Monday – Sunday  9.30am – 4pm (food orders between 10am – 3.30pm)

Please note that the following measures will be in place:

  • 2m distancing will be in place whilst queueing to place your order
  • There will be a one way system in operation around the centre
  • Order numbers will be given to customers, when orders are ready they will be called and customers can collect their order from the food collection point

The Adventure Playground is now open and the Campsite and Glamping Pods (6 furnished pods) are available to book via telephone. Please note that bookings can only be accepted from residents who live in Caerphilly County Borough. Bookings are only permitted for visitors from one household, mixed households cannot stay in the same pod.
